A Prologue to Scene 2...Scene 2

In that same Mental Institute for the Deranged, in the padded cell at the other end of the building, lived a confused little girl called Shrutgar and the multiple voices in her head. She had been admitted into the asylum after a particularly dastardly plan to take over the world had blown up (in the Extremely Hazardous Fireworks Factory), but everyone HAD agreed, "It'd been a pretty sight." So, there she was, the world's leading evil genius (and propounder of Women's Lib in Timbaktu) in a rather fetching straitjacket that was in vogue according to the Cosmopolitan for the month April, 2005. By day, the mild mannered Shruti, slightly LATER that day, the scourge of the rodents in her cell, for whom she took singing and English lessons interpersed with a bit of trivia, Shrutz, the Hyper... Let's join her during her daily treatment with her horde of shrinks...

Shruti was sitting on the ground, popping a piece of bubble-wrap, hearing the satisfying sound of a dozen bubbles bursting at once. The doctors were observing her from a one-way window. A junior shrink had a problem, "Err, sir what exactly are we doing?"
The Head Doctor (yeah, the selfsame one) pooh-pahed and put the little shrink in his place, "It's like meditation for her, but better... Somehow, bursting someone's bubble gives her immense pleasure. We will go and talk to her now.."
The gross of doctors entered the little padded room. Shruti got up and counted them at the top of her voice..
"1...2........ 20. If 20 doctors occupy 5 cubic metres to stand in and each is paid 20$ per patient's personality and there are 290 patients, but not personalities and the doctors were paid a total of 36801 dollars in 3 days, such that no doctor got more than 2/3rds of overtime pay in addition to full time pay and each patient had at least 34,781% of a personality, what percentage of doctors (with no personalities) was paid less than the youngest doctor who was 26 years old, assuming that age does not equate to higher pay? The doctors occupied a total of 355 cubic metres."
"Oh," whispered the junior shrink in awe, "Another CAT aspirant who was laid on the wayside by data interpretation..." He took out his clipboard and started scribbling in earnest. "Wait a minute. Data insufficient."
Shruti patted the doctor's hand, "I am playing CAT and mouse games with you, doctor.. 80.78% of all statistics are made up on the spot. Not to worry, let's tackle Verbal together. After that, I will proceed to tell you why a chicken crosses a road when there's a KFC with Colonel Saunders on this side. Oh damn! I gave away the punchline, didn't I? Not to worry, we'll talk about C programmers and light bulbs.."
The orderlies fainted. The Head Doctor was dumbstruck, "Even the same dumb joke. These loonies are giving me a headache." Meanwhile, the small shrink was consulting his pocket dictionary.
Shruti suddenly had a lucid moment, "The question, dear doctor, (may I call you Doc?) is, who's to say who is sane? I mean, what is sanity, really? Look at this bubble wrap. It was happy, once upon a time, till the finger of Fate jabbed its midsection and then it fell like a punctured balloon... What a life.."
The Specialist's (for the right most central corner of the brain) mouth fell open, "I've wondered that too..."
Shruti gestured to a section of the floor next to her, "Sit down, doctor, let's compare notes. Have you ever thought about what happens to the missing socks?"
The specialist nodded his head furiously, Shruti looked around and came close and whispered into the doctor's ears, "I better sock it to you, Doc... THEY take all of it... and make sock puppets. Heehee... Ain't that punny?"
The Specialist was especially speechless.
The Head Doctor took in the sight, of Shruti sitting and beside her, the two new patients of the Deranged Ward, one muttering to himself and counting on his fingers with his clipboard under his arm and a pencil stuck behind his ear and the other clutching his ankles and looking suspicious, as he hopped his way back to the group....
"Hello, Doc..." said Shruti to the Head Doctor, "Have I ever told you about how utterly fascinating Data Sufficiency is?"
All the doctors flee for their lives.

Three days later, the little confused girl finds herself lying on the floor of a bare room... She looks up and sees a fellow "sane man" hobble to the door.. "Nooo", she yells, "That's an incoming train...", but it was too late...
What'll happen to Dental? Will Amit be able to rein in his jokes... What will Angelax do now?... She doesn't know, but will you be too late to find out?
